Jordan D. Coffey
Jordan’s Walk for Wishes and Dash for Dreams is a tribute to our son Jordan David Coffey.
Jordan died on September 10, 2005 at the age of 14, after a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Jordan had been a Seventh
Grader at Hollis Brookline Middle School and was about to enter the 2005-2006 school year as an Eighth Grade Student.
From December 2004 through March 2005 there were weekly, and then daily trips between Brookline, NH & Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
for doctor appointments, Brigham and Woman's Hospital for radiation, and Boston Childrens Hospital for MRIs and CAT Scans.
In February 2005, Make-A-Wish of New Hampshire contacted us at home and offered Jordan a wish. We knew without hesitation
that he would want to go to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, a favorite of many NH Make-A-Wish children.
Make-A-Wish provided the most overwhelming gift and experience for our family. A limo picked us up at home and drove our
family of five to Manchester Airport. From airline tickets to a rental car, and accommodations on Disney property, Park-Hopper
Passes to Disney, SeaWorld and Universal Studios, it was truly a week we will all remember and cherish.
Many, many hours of work and preparation go into Make-A-Wish and we know that Jordan would want to make others happy,
as was his mission in life. He was always optimistic and had a ready smile.
At the end of September 2005, the Hollis Brookline Middle School Team Caesar became Team Jordan at the request of its teachers and with our blessing. It was a tremendous honor for us and one we know Jordan would never
believe.
